Two Shareholders Recognized as 2020 WTR Global Leaders
Published By World Trademark Review September 24, 2020

CHICAGO—Two attorneys from Brinks Gilson & Lione have been included in World Trademark Review’s (“WTR”) 2020 edition of WTR Global Leaders. David S. Fleming and Jeffery A. Handelman, Brinks shareholders with nearly 70 years of combined trademark law experience, were recognized this year.

The publication, issuing its second edition this year, pulls together the world’s leading trademark law practices and practitioners aggregated from WTR’s various research projects, including the WTR 1000 and WTR 300 to identify the “best of the best” in trademark practice.

In addition to his service as Brinks’ general counsel and formerly as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, David Fleming has also served in leadership roles in the global trademark community. He served as Counsel to the Board of the International Trademark Association (“INTA”), and he served INTA on its Board of Directors and as chair of the Annual Meeting and other programs. INTA recognized Dave with its President’s Award in 2016. Dave also speaks frequently on trademark issues, and he is a co-author of a trademark book, Trademark Litigation Practice, published by Bloomberg BNA.

With more than thirty-five years of experience in the intellectual property field, Jeff Handelman is nationally recognized for his work as a litigator, an expert witness, and a mediator.  He focuses on trademark, unfair competition, trade dress, dilution, false advertising, copyright, licensing, trade secret, and Internet-related matters, and his clients include some of the world's best-known brands.  Jeff wrote the two-volume Handelman’s Guide to TTAB Practice, published by Wolters Kluwer and updated biannually.  The treatise covers trademark cases heard at the Federal Circuit and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and includes a Foreword by Federal Circuit Judge Pauline Newman.
