Published By Super Lawyers Mountain States June 15, 2016

SALT LAKE CITY—Brinks Gilson & Lione lawyers Ryan L. Marshall and Andrew A. Hufford have been designated “top rated intellectual property attorneys in Salt Lake City” for 2016 by Super Lawyers Mountain States.

Marshall, a patent attorney and the managing shareholder of Brinks' Salt Lake City office, has been accorded Super Lawyer status, an honor limited to no more than five percent of the lawyers in a state. This is Marshall’s fourth year in a row being named a Super Lawyer, following four successive years as a Rising Star.

Marshall is deeply knowledgeable about the intricacies of patent prosecution and litigation, and the complexities of inventions in the chemical arts. His experience in the courtroom and in working with examiners at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office allows him to offer valuable insights to clients in the biotechnology, biochemistry and pharmaceutical, medical device, and sustainable energy sectors, and to position them for successful prosecution and litigation.

Patent attorney Hufford has been named a Rising Star, a designation reserved for no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in a state.

Hufford, who has extensive experience in the life sciences and chemical sectors, counsels clients on strategic planning for global patent portfolios, and has experience in due diligence, freedom-to-operate and infringement opinions, and post-grant review proceedings. His practice includes global patent prosecution for biotechnology, pharmaceutical, chemical, and medical device innovations and complex IP litigation. Hufford is the secretary of the intellectual property section of the Utah State Bar, the largest organization of IP attorneys in Utah.

Super Lawyers annually rates outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The rating service’s patented selection process includes independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations.
