Tadashi Horie brings more than 20 years of experience to a practice focused on patent prosecution, opinion, and licensing issues. With a deep background in electrical and computer-related technologies, he has particular experience in matters involving video and audio coding, computer-controlled medical diagnostic analyzers, and fuel cell systems. He also regularly prosecutes design patents.
For high-tech companies and other clients, Tadashi places a priority on understanding their business goals as thoroughly as their innovative intellectual property. His depth of knowledge on both fronts allows him to achieve the best results for his clients in prosecuting patents, as well as in negotiating terms and conditions of patent licenses. His opinion work encompasses both non-infringement and invalidity analyses.
Tadashi has practiced with Brinks Gilson & Lione since 1992; prior to that, he practiced at the Japanese firm of Yuasa & Hara. For multiple years running, he has been named an Illinois Super Lawyer. He is a member of the Japan Patent Attorneys Association, and speaks fluent Japanese.
