Shareholder Rashad Morgan to Lead NCBA Minorities in the Profession Committee

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.— Rashad L. Morgan, a shareholder at intellectual property law firm Brinks Gilson & Lione, was recently appointed to serve as co-chair of the Minorities in the Profession (MIP) Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA).

The MIP Committee is dedicated to providing ongoing education, promoting the betterment of life, and increasing the presence of minorities in the legal profession. It seeks to educate the public about the contributions of North Carolina’s minority lawyers and about issues of concern to minority lawyers. In his role as co-chair, Morgan will oversee the Preparing to Practice and the Promoting the Practice sub-committees, which offer programs and events for minority law students and practitioners aimed at increasing diversity in the profession.

Morgan, a chemical engineer, has a broad intellectual property practice that includes opinion work, due diligence review, and patent litigation, with a particular focus on patent prosecution. He assists clients in securing patent protection in the U.S. and in foreign jurisdictions, and provides full-service counsel on legal strategies for entire patent families. Morgan also serves as co-chair of Brinks’ recruiting and diversity committees.

In 2016, Morgan joined The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation, an honorary organization of attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession. He was named in 2015 and 2016 to The National Black Lawyers – Top 100, a professional honorary organization composed of the top 100 black lawyers from each state.
