Patent Prosecutor Frank Joins Tampa Colleagues at Growing IP Law Firm Brinks Gilson & Lione
TAMPA—Intellectual property law firm Brinks Gilson & Lione announced today that patent prosecutor and former Feldman Gale attorney Dr. Walter C. Frank has joined the firm’s new office in Tampa, Fla., the sixth attorney from Feldman Gale to join Brinks in ten days.
Brinks, already one of the largest intellectual property boutiques in the US, opened its Tampa office in May to bolster the firm’s presence in the southeastern U.S. and to have ready access to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, one of the faster growing jurisdications for patent litigation in the country.
Dr. Frank has significant experience in prosecuting U.S. and foreign patents related to small molecules, pharmaceutical compositions, and methods of use, and in drafting freedom-to-operate analyses and invalidity opinions. Prior to becoming an attorney, he spent nearly two decades as a research chemist developing new products and processes and securing IP protection for technologies related to fragrances and aroma chemicals. Dr. Frank is listed as the principal inventor on 26 patents for aroma chemicals.
“Walt and I have been colleagues for many years, and I’m delighted that he’s joining our new team in Tampa,” said Alejandro J. Fernandez, managing partner of Brinks' Tampa office, on announcing Frank’s move to Brinks. “His deep experience as an attorney, chemist, and inventor will serve our chemical and pharmaceutical industry clients well.”
Dr. Frank earned his J.D. from the Beasley School of Law at Temple University. He holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Virginia, an M.S. in organic chemistry from the University of Delaware, and a B.S. in chemistry from Shepherd College.
