Managing IP Again Recommends Brinks Gilson & Lione Offices, Names Nine Attorneys IP Stars for 2016
Published By Managing Intellectual Property May 19, 2016

CHICAGO—For the third year in a row, Managing Intellectual Property magazine (MIP) has designated intellectual property law firm Brinks Gilson & Lione’s Illinois office as Highly Recommended in its annual rankings, and has ranked the firm’s office in North Carolina as Recommended.

Moreover, MIP named nine Brinks attorneys at Brinks Gilson and Lione to its annual list of IP Stars. Firm president James R. Sobieraj was named a Patent Star and Trademark Star, as were his Chicago colleagues Eric C. Cohen, William H. Frankel, and Brad Lane, as well as Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Steven L. Oberholtzer.

Brinks attorneys Lawrence G. Almeda and Joshua E. Ney, Ph.D. also based in Ann Arbor; Allen R. Baum, in Research Triangle Park, N.C.; and Chicago-based Andrew D. Stover were recognized as Patent Stars. MIP noted in particular the “deep technical expertise in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering, among other industry areas” of the attorneys at Brinks.

Managing Intellectual Property again recognized the firm for its work in the areas of Copyright, Patent Contentious, Patent Prosecution, Trademark Contentious, and Trademark Prosecution, noting that “the firm is particularly well-known for its trademark practice, which covers both enforcement and non-contentious work involving search and clearance, prosecution, and licensing.”

To create the annual IP Stars firm rankings and list of leading IP practitioners, Managing Intellectual Property researchers each year obtain information from law firms and their clients through surveys and interviews. More information is at www.ipstars.com.
