Rathna is a uniquely qualified patent attorney with a successful track record of basic & applied research, intellectual property strategy and patent law. Her IP experience includes competitive intelligence mapping, patent prosecution, invention and patent claim analysis, defensive ring-fencing, IP strategy development in improving patent portfolio quality to maximize business potential. She has experience with providing non-infringement opinions, drafting licenses and joint development agreements. She graduated cum laude from the John Marshall Law School, she also holds a Ph.D. from Utah State University.

Rathna has a proven research track record and holds numerous patents in the United States, Europe, and Japan. Her research has been extensively published in scientific journals, and she has presented frequently at international food microbiology symposia. As a scientist at Kraft Foods, a multinational food and Beverage company, Rathna's contributions had over $100 million in product portfolio impact. Her expertise includes bioactive peptides, enzyme mediated bio-transformations, manipulation of cheese microbial ecology, antimicrobials, functional proteins, design of human metabolic studies, and bio-process optimization.
