Overview

“Effective client representation starts with understanding a client’s business. My in-house counsel and scientific experience allows me to do just that.”

With over two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, Jennifer has built a solid reputation as a trusted advisor to biotechnology and pharmaceutical corporations locally, nationally, and worldwide. She has the ability to forge strong relationships with her clients and strategically counsel them on key intellectual property issues.

Jennifer’s practice includes patent portfolio procurement and management, licensing and other agreements, IP due diligence and transactional support, and post-grant proceedings. Prior to joining Brinks, Gilson and Lione, Jennifer was the head of the Life Sciences and Biotechnology practice group at Coats + Bennett, PLLC, a boutique intellectual property firm just outside of Research Triangle Park, NC. Earlier in her career, she worked in-house as an attorney for Novozymes North America, Inc., a world leader in industrial biotechnology, and as a pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent attorney for GlaxoSmithKline, Inc. (GSK) where she was responsible for managing Hatch-Waxman litigation, IP due diligence and transactions, patent procurement and portfolio management.  Jennifer’s credentials go beyond her legal expertise.

In addition to her J.D., she holds a Master of Science in molecular biology and biochemistry, and worked as a research scientist at the National Institute of Health (NIH) and at GlaxoWellcome (now GSK). She has been published in numerous peer reviewed journals including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Biochemistry, and Molecular Endocrinology.

Jennifer is well respected by her clients and colleagues for taking a multi-faceted approach to solving IP issues. Her ability to look at complex legal issues from numerous angles and deliver strategic solutions is how Jennifer helps her clients move forward.
